Earthquake Rocks California on New Years Day

Happy New Year Ferndale! Residents of the Northern California town were awakened about 4:46 a.m. Thursday morning by a 5.3 magnitude earthquake which occurred about 70 miles off the coast.

Authorities reported some shaking, but no damage or injuries.

This earthquake happened about 250 miles north of the one that caused extensive damage in Napa on August 24th; it was recorded at 6.0.

Napa also experienced an earthquake around one in the morning New Years Day. It registered a magnitude of 2.6.

In Irving, Texas, residents experienced their 15th earthquake of 2014. A magnitude 2.8 was located near the old Texas Stadium of the Dallas Cowboys. Although residents said they felt the shock, there was no damage and on one was injured.
