The increased spirit of giving is the common denominator during this time of year. Nativity scenes are also something to expect as the day set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus quickly approaches. At one of the scenes in Amarillo, Texas, a resident left a $50,000 check under the baby Jesus figure. The check was discovered on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, when a caller advised the staff members to check the scene located outside of the building. The donation to The Children’s Home came as a big surprise to the officials, particularly since this is one of the toughest times of the year for non-profit organizations to raise money.

Although the caller requested to remain anonymous, members of the staff were able to contact him to express their gratitude. The donor told them he is inspired by the work they do to help youngsters and wanted to show his support monetarily. The home provides a place for children who are at-risk and provides a safe and nurturing environment according to CBSDFW.

Group President, Darrin Murphy says he let the children know about the generosity of the donor, and they were elated to learn that someone would be so willing to help them have a prosperous future.
